A number of Tottenham Hotspur fans have welcomed the report claiming Spurs are leading the race for Franck Kessie.

According to Calciomercato, Tottenham are now frontrunners – ahead of PSG – for the 25-year-old midfielder.

Indeed, the outlet claims Spurs have sent out “multiple manifestations of interest”.

Kessie’s current Milan contract expires in the summer and he’s yet to pen a new deal.

However, Kessie’s departure isn’t a foregone conclusion.

Calciomercato claim both Kessie and Milan wish to continue their relationship.

But given the difference in the two parties’ financial terms, this could open up an opportunity for Spurs to swoop.

Milan Live claimed earlier this month that Tottenham – and PSG – are willing to meet Kessie’s £163,000-a-week wage demands.

Spurs could certainly do with bolstering their midfield ranks, and Kessie – previously linked with Liverpool – would be a great shout.

“Kessie is one of the most well-rounded midfielders playing in Europe today,” wrote LFC Transfer Room in September.

“Providing thrust going forward, excellent ball retention, and hard work defensively.”

Some Tottenham fans are certainly pleased about the latest report:
