‘Would be insane’: Tottenham fans react to reports they could sign 12-cap star

Tottenham fans have been having their say on social media today as reports linked them with a surprise move for Aston Villa star, Emi Martinez.

The Independent claims that Martinez is top of a four-man list compiled by the club, in case Hugo Lloris decides to leave Spurs. The experienced Frenchman is out of contract in the summer, with fresh terms yet to be agreed or even offered.

Lloris, 34, has been exceptional for Tottenham ever since he joined. He’s made over 380 appearances in North London, with some memorable performances included in that.

However, Spurs realise he won’t be around forever. Martinez, then, has been identified as a potential replacement after impressing for both Villa and Argentina.

Tottenham fans, then, have been having their say on the links to Martinez on Twitter. And it seems most would be delighted to see the 29-year-old come through the doors.

Despite his Arsenal connection, there’s an acceptance that Martinez is a top class goalkeeper.
