‘Would be fantastic’: Arsenal fans discuss signing Rodrigo De Paul this summer

Arsenal fans will be hoping to see their team make quite the splash in the transfer market this summer, as Mikel Arteta seeks more players to buy into his vision for the club.

Last summer saw the arrivals of Thomas Partey, Gabriel Magalhaes, and Willian. Then, in January, the Gunners added Martin Odegaard on loan while they’ve also seen the continued development of the likes of Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe.

Players are already being linked with Arsenal ahead of the summer. And it’s little surprise, given the obvious gaps in this Gunners squad that need to be addressed by Arteta and Edu. A new defender is needed, a new midfielder is a must, and a striker might even be on the cards if the likes of Lacazette and Nketiah move on.

The midfield area is an area of particular concern for Arsenal. Granit Xhaka has been filling in at left-back of late. Dani Ceballos has stated his desire to move back to Madrid or Spain, while Partey has had a couple of niggling injuries.

Who Arsenal might sign to fill the midfield void is a discussion plenty of Arsenal fans have had. And despite the social media blackout from clubs this weekend, some Gunners fans have been using Twitter to discuss the potential signing of Udinese midfielder, Rodrigo De Paul.

De Paul is said to valued by Udinese at around the £35m mark. Liverpool have been linked with a move for him, while Leeds courted him for a number of weeks last summer.

Arsenal fans want Rodrigo De Paul signed

Gunners supporters are always active online these days. Whether it be reacting to news, a transfer rumour, or, as is the case here, making suggestions amongst themselves for potential signings.

In fairness to them here, De Paul is a good shout. Arsenal need someone with combative edge in the middle of the park. They need someone brave with the ball, who will take it off defenders and also provide a threat going forward. De Paul, then, could be that man.

31 appearances this season have yielded 8 goals and 8 assists for the Argentinian star. He really is all-action, getting from box to box and crucially, not being afraid to do the nitty-gritty work either.

He has 19 caps for Argentina already and at 26, is the ideal age to come into his prime should he end up in the Premier League with Arsenal or someone else, for that matter.

It’s little wonder, then, that Arsenal fans have been discussing De Paul on Twitter. It seems that Gunners fans want to see the midfield star signed this summer if possible, with plenty of positive comments in relation to the suggestion of De Paul.

With that, here’s a look at what some Arsenal supporters had to say as the subject of signing Rodrigo De Paul was raised on Twitter.
