‘Would be class’, ‘Fantastic’: Aston Villa fans react to reports linking them with Arsenal’s Emi Martinez

Aston Villa are said to be lining up a move for Arsenal goalkeeper, Emi Martinez, and a lot of Villa fans have been discussing the potential purchase on Twitter.

The Independent claimed yesterday that Dean Smith was eyeing a bargain £10m move for Martinez, who once again helped Arsenal to a Wembley win yesterday in the Community Shield.

Martinez has shot to prominence under Mikel Arteta ever since Berndt Leno suffered an injury. The former Reading loanee was in superb form as the season drew to a close and played a key role in the Gunners winning the FA Cup.

However, Leno may well come back in as the number one in a few weeks’ time, leaving Martinez with a big decision to make on his future.

Sure enough, then, some Aston Villa fans were more than excited about the prospect of signing Emi Martinez from Arsenal.
