‘Worth every penny’: Ex-SPL ace believes Rangers can sell star player ‘at around £20m’ this summer

Former Motherwell midfielder Tom Hateley believes Rangers could fetch up to £20m for Glen Kamara this summer.

Speaking to the Daily Record, the now Piast Gliwice star claimed that the 25-year-old midfielder’s performances in Euro 2020 will see his valuation balloon.

Kamara was key to Finland’s impressive showing at this summer’s competition. However, the Scandinavian nation failed to reach the Round of 16.

Kamara came into the tournament off his best-ever season as Steven Gerrard’s side cruised to the Scottish title. The former Arsenal academy player made 51 appearances in all competitions for the Gers last campaign.

‘He’d be worth every penny’

With Kamara attracting interest from Brentford and Watford as reported by the Daily Mail, there is a possibility Rangers could lose their star midfielder this summer.

Furthermore, according to Hateley, the Scottish giants should be setting an asking price of £20m for the midfielder.

The former Dundee FC star said: “Clubs try to get players from Scotland on cut-price deals because they’re playing in the SPFL. But the fact Glen has now gone on to the Euros stage, played well and looked comfortable, means Rangers should be looking at around £20m for Glen at least.

“If I was a manager or director of football, I’d be looking at a consistent performer like Glen. And he’d be worth every penny of a £20m signing.”

Rangers can profit off Kamara, but £20m is outrageous

With Rangers signing Kamara for just £50,000 back in 2019 as reported by the Daily Record, the Glasgow side stand to make a massive profit off the Finnish international should they decide to cash in.

Yet whilst it is easy to get caught up in the Euro 2020 hype, valuing Kamara at £20m is ridiculous.

Indeed, whilst the midfielder has shone over the past 12 months, his age and contract make it that Rangers would be pricing themselves out of selling the midfielder should they slap a £20m valuation on him this summer.
