Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has won a lot of plaudits since taking over at the Gunners but the comparisons with former boss Unai Emery don’t seem to be ending.
Emery was deemed a failure at The Emirates and was quickly moved on in place of Arteta last year. Since then, Arteta has landed the FA Cup and the Community Shield, while it’s clear his fingerprints are all over the club and the first XI now.

However, another blank at Elland Road yesterday means the Gunners now sit just 11th in the Premier League table. And worrying for Arsenal fans, in terms of points gained, Arteta is falling short of Emery.
Confirmed by Amazon on Twitter, Arteta now has 11 points less than Emery did after 29 league games in charge. The Spaniard racking up 46 points compared to the 57 of Emery.
The Gunners have four wins this season and four defeats. But worryingly for Arteta, they have scored only nine goals. Brighton, Leeds, and Newcastle – all below them – have all scored more.
Arteta, then, will be hoping to address that in the coming weeks and banish any further comparisons with his predecessor.
Worrying on paper, but more to it than just a stat – TBR View
Stats are all well and good but with this you could delve much deeper with it. It will come down to who the team has played in those games, circumstances, injuries, lots of things.
Of course, there’s no denying that it’s not ideal to see Arteta trailing Emery in the points bracket.
But the new Gunners boss is building something. The blocks are now in place for him to take the team forward now. Results need to improve, obviously. But Arteta is making an impression on the whole club, not just the first XI, and that is more important.
