Mikel Merino to Arsenal seems to be the latest transfer to be dragging along a touch as the window reaches it’s final few weeks.
The Spanish midfielder has emerged as a key target for Mikel Arteta’s side and reports have suggested Arsenal are close to doing a deal.
However, nothing has been signed or announced just yet and Merino, for now anyway, remains a Real Sociedad player.
Of course, that could all change at the drop of a hat if Arsenal can meet the asking price and come to an agreement with the player.
For now, though, it looks like things are business as usual for everyone and that includes Merino.

Mikel Merino reports for Real Sociedad training despite Arsenal links
While Arsenal fans might want to see footage of Merino boarding a plane to England, it seems that’s not the case just yet.
In fact, footage released from the official Real Sociedad X account earlier today has shown Merino reporting for training as usual with his teammates.
Merino, then, is very much still in Spain and as of now, there’s no sign of that changing imminently.
Arsenal need to get Mikel Merino deal done
While we don’t proclaim to know the ins and outs of this deal or Arsenal’s finances, it does beg the question of just what they are playing around with here.
The season is just a week away and while Merino has been linked for weeks, it’s still not done.
Weirdly, this is not even one of the most expensive deals to get done and there’s clearly something holding things up somewhere.
Merino is apparently keen on the move and has even thought to have told people around him he is intent on signing for Arsenal.
But, as time ticks on, things can start to falter and until things are signed, then Merino will face a nervous wait.
Arsenal fans, too, will want this done this week so Merino is ready for next weekend.
