‘World class’: Frank Lampard claims it's just so 'easy’ to manage Everton’s 28-year-old star

Frank Lampard has called Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford world class after his masterclass in the 1-0 win over Chelsea.

Pickford showed his quality on multiple occasions as the Toffees earned a vital win in their battle against relegation from the Premier League.

The 28-year-old has his doubters but he has had two good recent seasons with Everton and was a national hero at Euro 2020.

Lampard has lavished praise on his goalkeeper in an interview with the club’s official website after a game in which he was compared to Gordon Banks by Garth Crooks.

“Jordan is a world-class goalkeeper,” Lampard said of Pickford. “He is a low-maintenance player, he’s easy to work with.

“He makes quick reaction saves and brave saves. He has saved us two points against Chelsea and that’s what it’s all about.”

Lampard needs all of his best players, not just Pickford, to step up to the plate repeatedly in the final weeks of the season in order to beat the drop.

At the other end, Richarlison has been doing the business and getting crucial goals and the club’s home form is going to be crucial in the run-in.

There may be some who disagree with Lampard’s assessment of Pickford as world class but at international level, he certainly performs as well as anyone at major tournaments.

Pickford’s Everton form has been better in recent times than he has been given credit for but Lampard will hope he is not as busy in the coming weeks as he was on Sunday.

But if the England number one can keep on keeping clean sheets, it will give Everton a fantastic bedrock to get the results they need to escape relegation.
