'Worked really hard': Ange Postecoglou reacts to two Celtic players' display against Sheffield Wednesday

Ange Postecoglou picked out Albian Ajeti and Odsonne Edouard for praise for how hard they worked as Celtic came from behind to win in his first game in charge on Wednesday – as he gave his reaction to the Hoops’ official website.

Unfortunately, Celtic did not get off to the best start. They fell behind to a familiar face after just three minutes.

However, the Hoops battled back against the League One outfit. Ajeti got the equaliser before Owen Moffat and Odsonne Edouard scored at either end of the second-half.

Ajeti was praised by many Celtic fans for his display. And Postecoglou suggested that he was happy with how hard the two strikers worked.

“The strikers did a lot of work, not just scoring their goals but also off the ball as well,” he told Celtic’s official website.

“We need our strikers to work hard and I thought that Albi and Odsonne worked really hard with our press. I think for both of them, scoring goals, which gives them that confidence.”

Postecoglou reaction after Celtic win hints Ajeti is ready to prove point at Parkhead

Ajeti is one of several at Celtic with a real point to prove this season. He endured a really tough first campaign in Scotland.

He actually ended the season with just six goals in 29 appearances. Remarkably, he only scored once after the end of September.

So he needs to step up this season.

It remains to be seen what the future holds for Edouard. But Celtic cannot rely solely on the Frenchman if he does stick around.

The optimism may be cautious at this stage. But perhaps there is reason for encouragement after Ajeti’s first appearance under the new boss.
