A number of Glasgow Rangers fans have been commenting on Twitter about the report linking Ibrox academy gem Robby McCrorie with a move south of the border.

According to the Daily Record, the 22-year-old Gers ace is believed to be on the radar of English Premier League side West Ham United, who are looking for a long-term successor to number one Lukasz Fabianski.

McCrorie has enjoyed a superb season away from Rangers on loan, first at Queen of the South, where he has just been named player of the year despite being there for half a season.

At present, the Ibrox gem is with Scottish Premiership side Livingston, where he has made eight Premiership appearances.

According to the Daily Record report, West Ham boss David Moyes is eager to bring him to the London Stadium, while other top level clubs from England and the continent are said to be monitoring his situation.

However, Rangers are reportedly hoping the 6ft 4in ace will commit to the club for the long term, with preliminary talks believed to already be underway.

McCrorie is a very promising young keeper who has kicked on massively this season, so it’s little surprise to see him linked not only with clubs in Britain and beyond, but also to a prolonged Rangers stay.

With Allan McGregor having recently turned 38, Rangers boss Steven Gerrard ought to be looking at potential successors in between the sticks, and hopefully McCrorie can be that man.

However, it remains to be seen whether the prospect of a lucrative contract south of the border will tempt him.

Here is what some Rangers fans on social media have been making of the speculation:
