'Wonderful news': Graham Roberts lauds Spurs for tying down Heung-Min Son to new contract
Spurs have made a big move this summer as they finally managed to tie down Heung-Min Son to a new contract in north London.
The South Korean star has been a shining light for Tottenham alongside Harry Kane, who faces an uncertain future himself.
Spurs landing Son on a long-term deal could well boost the club in general, as well as convincing Kane to stay put as well. Of course, the news went down well among the fans, but it also went down well among former players as well.
One such former player to share his delight at the news is Graham Roberts, who branded the agreement as ‘wonderful news’ for Spurs.
Son’s form has never wavered really, despite the change in managers. He was brilliant for Mauricio Pochettino, before excelling under Jose Mourinho as well.
New boss, Nuno Santo, will be hoping a new deal can give Son another kick as the new season approaches.
Despite talk of a number of new signings coming into the club, this might be the most important piece of business Spurs do all summer.
Of course, we all know how important Harry Kane is. But Son is right up there in terms of importance for this team. In fact, should Kane go, then Son will very much be the main man at Spurs.
Roberts’ thoughts are probably echoed by many around the country who follow Spurs closely. Certainly, it’s a huge boost and a step in the right direction for Daniel Levy and new transfer supremo, Fabio Paratici.
