'Wonderful': James Collins loved what West Ham ace did in 56th minute v Chelsea
West Ham United have further cemented their position in the Premier League top four.
David Moyes’ charges recorded a superb 3-2 win over title challengers Chelsea.
A Manuel Lanzini penalty and goals from Jarrod Bowen and Arthur Masuaku sealed the hosts’ win at the London Stadium.
West Ham fell behind in the 28th minute due to Thiago Silva’s towering header.
However, Lanzini hauled the Hammers level from the penalty spot five minutes before the break.
A poor Jorginho backpass, combined with Bowen’s pressing, led Edouard Mendy to lunge and concede a spot kick.
Chelsea went ahead again on the stroke of half-time through Mason Mount’s near-post volley.
However, West Ham bounced back on 56 minutes thanks to Bowen’s low finish through the legs of Andreas Christensen and in.
BBC Radio 5 Live pundit and former West Ham defender James Collins was impressed by Bowen’s effort.
“Super finish,” he said (4/12/21, 13:47).
“Jarrod Bowen has come up with a wonderful finish on his weaker foot, great strike.
“He’s taken it early and it’s caught Edouard Mendy out.”
And in the 87th minute, Arthur Masuaku sent the London Stadium into raptures thanks to a cross-shot effort that went in at the near post.
“Unbelievable,” said Collins (4/12/21, 14:19). “Wow. It looks like a deflected cross.
“Arthur Masuaku either mis-hit it or it’s a deflection. West Ham will take it either way!”
West Ham are now four points ahead of fifth-placed Arsenal, who play Everton away on Monday night.
