Wolves youngster Vinagre would be ideal replacement for Moreno at Liverpool

Liverpool are interested in signing Wolves defender Ruben Vinagre this summer, according to Portuguese outlet O Jogo, as relayed by Sport Witness.

They report that Jurgen Klopp asked the teenager after a meeting between the two sides this season whether he would like to live in Liverpool, so impressed was he by his performance.

The Reds reportedly face competition from Barcelona if they want Vinagre, but the Catalan club were also linked with one of Klopp’s own players of late, by Spanish outlet Sport – Alberto Moreno.

The 26-year-old Spaniard’s Liverpool career has not been a success and with his contract set to expire at the end of the season, he looks set to leave Anfield – but the Nou Camp would be a surprising destination.

And if that is to be the case, Vinagre’s maiden season in the top flight has indicated that he would be an ideal replacement, with his energy to get up and down the flank as well as his crossing ability.

At just 19, it seems as if the man Spotrac claim earns £30,000 a week, will only get better, and while Wolves are motoring in the right direction, the prospect of Champions League football and potentially joining the title winners may be a big lure for a player who is not a regular starter at Molineux.
