Wolverhampton Wanderers could end up as a potential destination for Atletico Madrid attacker Gelson Martins.

According to Mundo Deportivo, the 23-year-old may depart in January, with Monaco and AC Milan mentioned as interested parties.

The report details that Wolves or Besiktas could potentially chase him given that the player’s agent is Jorge Mendes, who already has several of his clients at the two clubs.

According to AS, Newcastle are keen to take the winger on loan for the rest of the season and pay a fee between £3.5million and £4.4million for a temporary switch.

It’s unclear on if Wolves can strike a deal for the Portugal international, but he could be a great addition at Molineux if it takes places.

Martins was directly involved in 26 goals across all competitions last season for Sporting CP and his underwhelming start to life at Atletico since his summer move should ruin his reputaiotn.

He is a right-winger with tremendous pace and trickery, while he’s got experience at both Champions League and international level.

Wolves signed Adama Traore in the summer to inject something extra to their attack and the right-winger is renowned for his express pace.

But the 22-year-old has flopped in the first half of the season with just one goal and one assist, which has meant he’s not been able to cement a spot in Nuno Espirito Santo’s side.

Martins could be everything that was promised of Traore if he does end up at Wolves and it would be fascinating to see him in the Premier League.
