Wolves supporters discuss Romain Saiss display against Tottenham

Raul Jimenez watched on at Molineux on Sunday evening but his absence remains to be felt by Wolverhampton Wanderers despite salvaging a late point against Tottenham Hotspur – and fans discussed Romain Saiss’ display.

Wolves came into the match having won just one of their previous four Premier League games – beating Chelsea but losing to the likes of Liverpool, Aston Villa and Burnley. Things looked as if they would continue in that vain.

Tanguy Ndombele’s opportunistic effort from 20 yards out befuddled Wolves goalkeeper Rui Patricio, curling an effort which ended up hitting the back of the net in pretty much the middle of the goal.

Spurs looked comfortable throughout. The lack of a vocal point that Jimenez normally provides was evident, something which highly-rated teenager Fabio Silva struggled to provide. But Wolves did eventually fight back.

It was Saiss that netted the goal, heading home perfectly from a Pedro Neto corner in the 86th minute. In a match that looked as if it was going to end in another example of Jose Mourinho’s style, Wolves nabbed a point.

Wolves fans reacted on Twitter to his performance, a player who cost £3.4million (L’Equipe) four years ago. Many were impressed by his efforts even aside from the goal, including one who labelled him “underrated”.
