Wolves supporters delighted with Marcal after win over Chelsea

Wolverhampton Wanderers produced a stunning performance to inflict a second successive defeat for Chelsea on Tuesday night, scoring a winner in the last minute of injury time – and supporters have heaped praise on summer signing Marcal.

Wolves came into the match following a poor run of results that had seen them win just once in their last five Premier League games. A bitteringly disappointing last-minute defeat to Midlands rivals Aston Villa came just a few days before.

However, they looked like a side full of confidence – even after Olivier Giroud’s opener on 49 minutes. The French veteran volleyed home a cross from Ben Chilwell, with Rui Patricio failing to keep the effort out.

Fabio Silva had a goal disallowed before a moment of solo brilliant from Daniel Podence saw Wolves draw level. Then, in the 94th minute, Pedro Neto struck a perfect finish into the bottom corner on the counter attack to down Frank Lampard’s men.

Summer signing Marcal, 31, had lost his place at left-back to Rayan Ait-Nouri but has since started the last four Premier League matches. The £35k-a-week (Spotrac) star shone on the left side of the defence, becoming somewhat consistent.

Indeed, Wolves supporters have posted on Twitter following Marcal’s performance in the last-minute win and fans were delighted with the Brazilian ace – who joined Wolves from Lyon for less than £2million.
