Bruno Fernandes starred for Manchester United on Saturday afternoon as he helped relieve some of the pressue on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to help his side beat Everton 3-1 away from home – and a Wolves star has heaped praise on him.
United went into Saturday’s clash at Goodison Park after losing to Istanbul Basaksehir and Arsenal during their last two outings. That run of form looked as though it was going to continue, as Bernard netted from the edge of the penalty area.
But the goal almost rallied United. A floated cross from Luke Shaw was met with perfection by Fernandes – and although he is not renowned for his heading ability, he planted a header past Jordan Pickford into the net.
The Portuguese star’s cross inadvertently found the back of the net, with Marcus Rashford failing to get a touch. It was three in injury time as his excellent run from inside his own half saw him feed Edinson Cavani to score. He posted on Instagram.
Fernandes has now had a hand in 11 goals during his 11 league and cup appearances this season, scoring six times and creating five more. His form will be crucial to United and Solskjaer, if they are to turn their form around more consistently.
Portugal teammate and Wolves star Semedo responded to his Instagram post, dishing out a five-word verdict on the ex-Sporting Lisbon ace: “Another day in the office”.
