Wolves signing Khedira could threaten Dendoncker’s development

Wolverhampton Wanderers were recently linked with a surprise move for Sami Khedira.

Football Italia claimed Juventus are willing to listen to offers for the German midfielder, whose opportunities look limited at the Italian champions after the recent signings of Aaron Ramsey and Adrien Rabiot.

Apparently Wolves asked about the World Cup winner’s availability, and could face competition from Besiktas and teams in the MLS.

It would seem Nuno Espirito Santo is trying to bring in players that can help with the club’s Europa League efforts, and Khedira is no stranger to playing European football.

Arguably, Wolves signing Khedira would stunt the growth of promising Belgian ace Leander Dendoncker.

TBR’s view

If Khedira pitched up at Molineux he would expect to play regularly, meaning someone would have to be sacrificed.

£12 million signing Dendoncker (talkSPORT) is arguably the most similar to Khedira in terms of position and play style, and he would be the one to make way.

Former Anderlecht star Dendoncker is full of promise and showed how effective he is when given a run in the side last term by Santo.

He needs to be playing week in week out alongside Ruben Neves. Wolves signing Khedira would surely make that more unlikely for the 24-year-old.

The World Cup winner has had a brilliant career and does now need to leave Juve, but perhaps Wolves need to think carefully about making a move.
