Wolves should think again over struggling Andre Silva

Wolverhampton Wanderers are one team credited with an interest in Portuguese striker Andre Silva (Calciomercato).

The AC Milan hitman has been on loan at Sevilla this season in a bid to get regular game time having had Gonzalo Higuain and Patrick Cutrone for competition at San Siro.

Silva made an extremely bright start to 2018/19 with the Spanish outfit, scoring seven goals in his first seven La Liga matches.

It looked as though Sevilla had gotten themselves a top player, but things haven’t been quite the same for the striker of late.

TBR’s view

Wolves might want to consider some other options in their hunt for a new striker this summer, with Silva having gone well off the boil in 2019.

This calendar year, the former FC Porto man has managed to scored just twice in all competitions, and he has really been struggling to affect games.

In the last four La Liga matches, Silva has been named on the bench twice and against Barcelona he was left as an unused substitute.

It has been quite the fall from grace for Silva, who can be signed by Sevilla for €43 million (£36.8 million) according to a December report from Calciomercato.

Sevilla are understood to want him to return to Milan, which perhaps suggests that Wolves need to be looking elsewhere.

There will be some temptation given his nationality and the growing contingent of Portuguese players at Molineux, but his poor recent goalscoring record and performances speaks for themselves.
