Wolves should target a Kortney Hause replacement

Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Kortney Hause is reportedly close to completing a switch to Aston Villa in the January window.

According to the Sun, they have accepted a bid from Championship outfit Villa for the 23-year-old.

The report details that the former England Under-21 international will now have a medical and negotiate personal terms ahead of his transfer.

The centre-back has made just two appearances across all competitions this season and slipped down the pecking order at Molineux.

Hause could prove to be a decent signing for Villa at Championship level if he gets a regular run of games and does have experience in the diviosn.

But Wolves should prioritise finding a replacement at centre-back for their squad when Hause’s expected departure goes through.

He may not have been involved much this season, but made the bench in the league on several occasions to provide cover.

Manager Nuno Espirito Santo has his preferred centre-back trio of Willy Boly, Conor Coady and Ryan Bennett, but there is not much in reserve behind them in case of serious injuries.

Wolves could do with an extra defensive option to slot into the backline and a left-footed player would be ideal in January.
