Wolves are readying a bumper January swoop for Napoli midfielder Amadou Diawara, according to Italian outlet Tutto Mercato.
The Old Gold were linked with a swoop for the 21-year-old last year and are reportedly ready to renew their interest in a January transfer window where they can take full advantage of their strong foothold upon their return to the top flight.
The Birmingham Mail report that Wolves were quoted £45m previously, and despite the fact that Diawara has not featured heavily for Napoli this season, that asking price has only dropped to around £35m.
That would dwarf the club-record fee Wolves paid to secure Adama Traore last summer and given that Nuno Santo can call upon Ruben Neves, Joao Moutinho and Romain Saiss in the engine room, does he really need to spend so big on Diawara?

The answer is no, and Santo already has a highly-rated midfielder in Leander Dendoncker that he has not yet called upon as well.
So to spend £35m on Diawara would be irresponsible; spending around half that on Tammy Abraham would be a much wiser investment in the current window.
Diawara is clearly a talent that Napoli value highly but Wolves should see proof of that – by Carlo Ancelotti actually playing him – before they part with such a hefty chunk of money to secure his services.
