Wolverhampton Wanderers should consider joining the race to sign David Okereke this month.

The Spezia striker has dazzled in Serie B this term having scored six goals and made eight assists for the Italian second division side.

The Eagles are looking to add cover for their attack after letting Alexander Sorloth leave the club on loan.

Wolves should think about rivalling Palace for Okereke, who is looking very much as though he’s ready to make the step up.

Ideal Jimenez cover

Wolves could do with getting another forward in this month.

They’ve managed to get by relying on Raul Jimenez up until now, but the Mexican could well tire as the season wears on.

Diogo Jota has been supporting, but the Portuguese star is a winger by trade. And Leo Bonatini simply doesn’t have the faith of Nuno Espirito Santo.

Wolves have been linked with a swoop for Liverpool’s Divock Origi, but the Reds want £17.4 million for the outcast (Calciomercato) which could prove too steep.

Okereke would be much cheaper than that, although admittedly he has no top flight experience.

It would be a gamble, but surely one worth taking for high-flying Wolves, who will not be threatened by relegation this year.

There is very little pressure now on Espirito Santo’s team and so it’s as good a time as any to take risks.

Nigerian Okereke is a promising young talent who is capable of stretching defences. He could be brilliant replacing Jimenez in games after he has worn down defences.
