Wolves outcast Iorfa should force exit from club for the sake of his career

According to the Sun, Rangers are ready to reignite their summer interest in Wolves right-back Dominic Iorfa as cover for captain James Tavernier.

The report claims that Steven Gerrard wants to add the 23-year-old’s athleticism to his backline and could pick him up for just £500,000 in the January window.

Iorfa has not played a single minute of Premier League action for Nuno Santo’s newly-promoted Old Gold side but remains a hugely promising talent.

As much as it’s an exciting project on offer at Molineux right now, it’s no place for a young player who needs gametime given Santo’s reluctant to alter his backline.

The Englishman does not even look like being the next cab off the rank if Santo suffered an injury at the back and at this stage of his career, it’s imperative that he plays regularly.

With that in mind, it may be worth considering that moving to a club where the captain plays in his position may not be the wisest move for Iorfa, but a switch to Ibrox may well offer European exposure if the Gers reach the Europa League knockout stages.

This has been a big season for young English talent and the key is going somewhere where they’re playing week in and week out.

That’s not the case for Iorfa at Wolves right now; that’s why he’s got to make the move in January.
