Wolves have now identified one of the most underrated Premier League forwards as a replacement for Pedro Neto.

Gary O’Neil has just a matter of days until Wolves embark on their first Premier League game of the 2024/25 campaign, as a trip to the Emirates Stadium to play Arsenal beckons on Saturday.

As that clash approaches, Wolves have just opened talks to sign a forward to replace Pedro Neto

Wolves in talks to sign Yoane Wissa

A story from Mike McGrath of the Telegraph now states that Wolves are in talks with Brentford over the signing of Yoane Wissa.

The respected journalist took to X (previously known as Twitter) to reveal that talks are “ongoing” between the Old Gold and the Bees.

Wissa enjoyed an impressive 2023/24 campaign for Brentford despite not having Ivan Toney to support him in attack for the first half of the season, scoring 12 goals and providing three assists in 34 Premier League appearances.

McGrath does not mention any financial figures, although we presume Brentford would demand a large fee for the DR Congo international, who still has two years remaining on his contract.

Wolves are also said to be considering a loan move for Barcelona No.10 Ansu Fati as a replacement for Neto – according to Spanish news outlet SPORT.

Brentford No.11 would be a fantastic signing for Gary O’Neil

If Wolves can successfully lure Wissa to Molineux, it would be superb business.

The Brentford No.11 has proven himself as one of the most underrated forwards in the entire Premier League since sealing an £8.5m move from Lorient back in August 2021, averaging roughly a goal every four games in England’s top-flight.

Wissa has 26 goals in 102 Premier League appearances – as well as seven assists.

Furthermore, the 27-year-old can play anywhere across the frontline, so not only would he be a replacement for Neto if a deal materialises, but O’Neil could use him as cover for any of his forwards.

Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as – like McGrath states – talks are ongoing between Wolves and Brentford.
