Wolves fans want Rafa Mir to be given a second chance

Rafa Mir has told Spanish outlet Cadena Ser that it is down to Wolverhampton Wanderers whether they want to keep him or let him leave the club this summer – and Wolves fans are keen to see him stay.

Mir, 21, is currently on loan at La Liga 2 side Las Palmas. The young Spaniard has scored seven goals in 26 league games, which is hardly the best record given that he is not even in the top flight of Spanish football.

Wolves signed Mir from Valencia for just £2million in January 2018 (Mirror), but he has managed just four appearances for Wolves. The signing of Raul Jimenez permanently is likely to reduce his potential game time.

Mir was asked about his future at Las Palmas, and he claimed that it is down to his parent club to make a decision on his future – not him. He did disclose that he has held talks with his agent over his future.

“I am calm because I have already told my agent what my idea is,” Mir said. “I belong to Wolverhampton and I will have to talk to them to find the best solution for everyone, but right now I do not think about it.

“We will sit down when the season is over.”

A Spain Under-21 international, Mir joined Wolves with plenty of hype. But he has simply failed to live up to that potential so far, though he does have a contract with the Midlands club until the summer of 2022.

Wolves fans reacted on Twitter to Mir’s comments, with the majority of Molineux supporters desperate to keep the forward at their club as cover. Considering he is still very young, he has a chance of living up to his potential.
