Wolves fans suggest Dion Sanderson senior debut against Reading

Wolverhampton Wanderers host Reading on Wednesday night in the third round of the Carabao Cup – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter want defender Dion Sanderson to earn his senior debut.

The 19-year-old is a highly-rated talent to come through the youth ranks at Molineux and is a key part of the Under-23s side.

Wolves could do with a lift in the domestic cup competition and face a Reading side that are in the bottom half of the Championship.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side sit 19th in the Premier League with no victories from their opening six games and need to try reignite their form.

The West Midlands club are struggling to balance domestic and European competitions so far this season, as they look miles off the pace they set last season in the top-flight.

A selection of Wolves supporters on social media believe there should be rotation in midweek for the cup and have suggested Sanderson as someone that should come into the team.

He is a ball-playing centre-back that has the potential to slot into a three-man defence, while he has also played as a wing-back at times.

The Englishman is tipped by many as someone that can break into the senior ranks from the academy and he was an unused substitute earlier in the season during Europa League qualifiers.

It could be an ideal fixture at home to lower league opponents to give the promising defender a debut at Molineux.
