Wolves fans show their frustration with Costa after defeat against Crystal Palace

Wolves produced a pedestrian performance in a disappointing 2-0 home defeat at the hands struggling Crystal Palace last night, with goals from Jordan Ayew and Luke Milivojevic putting them to the sword.

It was a major contrast to the display which saw off Tottenham 3-1 last time out; on that occasion Helder Costa put the gloss on the victory with the third goal, but he was poor last night.

The wideman could not get into the game at all as it was another occasion when Wolves’ persistence with their 3-4-2-1 system saw them become too predictable and Palace picked them off eventually.

It is important to remember that Wolves are a newly-promoted side who find themselves in the top half and in no immediate danger of relegation with more than half the season gone, but frustrations about their inconsistency are beginning to grow.

And much of that ire was directed at Costa, with some supporters who watched on as he was a key part of their promotion campaign last season now calling him out for his performances in the top flight.

It seems a slightly fickle assessment of a player who opened his goalscoring account for the season at Wembley and has a lot of promise, but the fans are the ones who watch Costa every week and this is what they think…
