Wolverhampton Wanderers were beaten for the first time in the Premier League on Sunday.

The Black Country club could not follow up their midweek Europa League victory over Torino, and lost 3-2 to Everton at Goodison Park.

The club now sit 17th in the table after four games and are yet to record a win in the league.

It was a poor peformance from the visitors, who may well have been feeling the effects of their exertions in Europe.

Nuno Espirito Santo said after the game (official website): “It was a tough cycle, everybody knows what we’ve been through. We played Thursday night, a big high on emotions, we recover, but coming to Goodison Park is very difficult, even if you have 15 days of rest.

“Premier League is so difficult, you must have high standards.”

The Belgian was operating in a midfield three along with Romain Saiss and Ruben Neves, with the creative talents of Joao Moutinho left on the bench.

Wolves fans react

Wolves fans tore into the 24-year-old on Twitter for his poor performance, with many believing that Nuno Espirito Santo should have hooked him instead of Saiss:
