Wolverhampton Wanderers booked their place in the Europa League group stage on Thursday night with a 3-3 draw away against Braga – but Wolves fans have hammered defender Romain Saiss for his performance.

With Willy Boly injured and Nuno Espirito Santo deciding to leave Jesus Vallejo on the bench, Morocco international Saiss partnered captain Conor Coady and Leander Dendoncker in a somewhat makeshift back three against Braga.

Braga took advantage, earning the lead in the sixth minute through Andre Horta. A deflected long-range effort flew past Rui Patricio into the top corner, which seemed to spring Wolves into life who went 3-1 up in a matter of moments.

Jonny’s deep cross was headed in Raul Jimenez, who scored his seventh in eight goals. Jimenez turned provider, chipping a delicate ball in to Matt Doherty who headed home superbly. Jimenez got another assist, feeding Adama Traore to make it three.

But Wolves switched off in the second half. Poor defending from Doherty allowed Galeno to go past him and cross for Paulinho to tap home. Braga’s equaliser was Saiss at fault, as the defender let Fransergio go free to head home an equaliser.

Many Wolves fans have hammered the £3million signing (Express & Star), who is also adept at playing in midfield. One fan described him as “the weakest link in our team” and an “absolute liability”.
