Wolves fans react as Pedro Neto impresses against Southampton on Monday night
Wolverhampton Wanderers failed to nab all three points against Southampton on Monday night as they finished the stronger of the two sides at Molineux – and Wolves supporters have heaped praise on substitute Pedro Neto.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s side came into the match having won three of their last five Premier League games – but were without captain Conor Coady and Romain Saiss. It saw them field a four-man defence.
In a close first half, neither side managed to create a golden chance – but it was Theo Walcott’s first goal in his second Southampton spell that finally awoke Wolves. A low cross from Che Adams presented Walcott with a tap-in.

Walcott then missed a glorious chance, and Wolves did not waste that lifeline. A Raul Jimenez shot was lashed against the post – allowing Neto to tap home an equaliser in the 75th minute. He only came on five minutes earlier.
It was Neto’s second goal of the season and only his seventh in 54 Wolves outings, though many have come from the bench. Wolves finished the stronger side but failed to make the breakthrough, meaning the score remained 1-1.
Wolves supporters have responded on Twitter to £50,000 a week Neto’s (Spotrac) performance for their side, and many were delighted with his efforts – as he saved Santo’s men from suffering defeat against the Saints.
