Wolverhampton Wanderers have reportedly rejected a £1million bid for defender Dion Sanderson this summer. The centre-back spent the 2020-21 campaign on loan with the League One club, clocking up 27 appearances for the Black Cats. Wolves fans have reacted on Twitter to the reports that Sunderland have seen a bid rejected for Sanderson.

Sanderson, 21, has been excellent for Sunderland. Initially struggling to break into the Wearside club’s starting XI, he then started 15 consecutive League One games. The defender was crucial to Sunderland going 12 league games unbeaten between February and April – Sunderland won nine.

The Mail claim Sunderland have made an attempt to sign Sanderson on a permanent basis from Bruno Lage’s Wolves. However, they have rejected the £1million fee tabled – despite Sanderson entering the last 12 months of his contract. It is believed Wolves want double that, a fee of £2million.

What are Wolves fans saying about Sunderland bidding for Sanderson?

Six Championship clubs are also keeping tabs on Sanderson, in the form of Cardiff City, Sheffield United, Luton Town, Millwall, Stoke City and Birmingham City. It remains to be seen if Sunderland will go back in for Sanderson, and increase their initial offer for the defender.

Wolves fans have reacted on Twitter to the reports that their club have rejected the seven-figure offer for Sanderson. Many believe that the defender is worth far more than the fee tabled by the Black Cats. Certainly, Sanderson impressed Sunderland fans during the second half of 2020-21.
