A number of Wolverhampton Wanderers fans have taken to Twitter to suggest that Celtic’s hopes of signing Daniel Podence have already been dashed after reports linked the Hoops with the winger.
The Daily Mirror reported at the weekend that Celtic had made a loan enquiry for the £17 million attacker.
It was suggested that a host of clubs were monitoring Podence’s situation, with the Hoops near the front of the queue. However, it was also noted that Nuno Espirito Santo was yet to make a decision on his future.
But if he was undecided previously, it would be no surprise if he was in little doubt about his plans for Podence next season following his display in their 3-0 win over Everton on Sunday.
Podence marked his first Premier League start for Wolves with a stunning performance. He won a penalty and should have arguably got on the scoresheet himself.
Celtic fans are already now pessimistic about their chances of landing the 24-year-old. And it is clear that many Wolves supporters would be stunned to see Podence go anywhere.
They believe that he has shown that he is a player Nuno needs to keep next season. And they would not be surprised to see Podence further quash any suggestion that he could leave in the final games of the campaign.
Here is what some Wolves fans were saying about Podence’s future following the Celtic links and his display against Everton…
Won’t happen after today’s performance.
