Wolves fans praised Daniel Podence after his display against Sheffield United

Wolverhampton Wanderers kicked off the new Premier League season with an impressive victory away to Sheffield United on Monday evening – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter were really impressed with the performance of their attacker Daniel Podence.

Wolves recorded a 2-0 away win at Bramall Lane in the league fixture and it was two quick-fire goals at the beginning of the contest that earned them three points.

Raul Jimenez scored a phenomenal half-volley inside three minutes, as he managed to perfectly judge a cross from Podence to strike into the net.

Romain Saiss then scored a bullet header just three minutes later for the visitors to extend the lead and he was also involved in a goal-line clearance at the other end for his team.

A selection of Wolves supporters on social media singled out Podence as someone that had a brilliant influence against Sheffield United and one even compared him to Real Madrid’s Eden Hazard.

Podence assisted the opening Jimenez goal with an excellent cross from the left with his weaker left foot and he had showed real pace to get himself into space out wide.

The 24-year-old left-winger has been steadily introduced to the XI by manager Nuno Espirito Santo since he joined in January, but began to find his feet at the back end of last season and looked electric on Monday.

Here are some Wolves fans discussing Podence:
