Wolves fans praise Matt Doherty after Manchester City performance

Matt Doherty scored the winner in a dramatic 3-2 win over Manchester City on Friday night – and some Wolverhampton Wanderers fans on witter raved about the defender’s performance.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side fought from 2-0 down to earn three Premier League points in dramatic fashion at Molineux.

Raheem’s Sterling double had given the visitors a lead, despite them seeing goalkeeper Ederson shown a straight red card in the 12th minute.

Wolves started the comeback with a great low strike from Adama Traore that was arrowed in from outside the box.

In-form striker Raul Jimenez then netted a close-range equaleir in the 82nd minute and Doherty scored in the 89th minute to spark wild celebrations.

Doherty made his trademark run from right wing-back into a forward area and his left-footed strike was hit into the bottom corner.

The 27-year-old full-back now has give goals across all competitions so far this season and is such a dangerous threat going forward.

He was focused on attacking against Manchester City’s 10 men for most of the match and his persistence paid off late on.

The Irishman is such a key player in Nuno’s system and Wolves are back up to fifth in the table.
