Wolves fans hail Raul Jimenez despite Manchester City defeat
Wolverhampton Wanderers suffered defeat to Manchester City on Monday night – but some of the club’s supporters on Twitter credited their frontman Raul Jimenez for his performance.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s side were beaten 3-1 at Molineuex by Man City in the Premier League fixture.
Kevin De Bruyne and Phil Foden both scored in the first-half for the visitors to give them a deserved lead, while Gabriel Jesus netted in the 95th minutes to make sure of the three points for Pep Guardiola’s team.
But Wolves pegged a goal back in the 78th minute to set up a nervous finish and they were much improved in the second period.
Jimenez was the unsurprising goalscorer for his side, as he rifled in a bullet header at the near-post from a Daniel Podence cross.
Jimenez, 29, has now scored in the opening two games of the new league season and has been the talisman for the West Midlands club in the last couple of years.
The Mexican centre-forward managed 27 goals across all competitions and has become one of the most consistent frontmen in the Premier League.
He is an all-round striker that can score all types of goals and his team’s attacking play goes through him in the final third.
A selection of Wolves supporters on social media singled out Jimenez for his latest display and one claimed he is “running out of superlatives” for him.
Here are some Wolves fans praising Jimenez:
Podence is a baller. Going to be some player when he sorts his finishing out.
Running out of superlatives for Raul. Pray we keep him this window.
Nuno still has the ability to figure opponents out and finish strong. #WWFC
