Wolves fans hail Joao Moutinho performance after Torino victory

Wolverhampton Wanderers picked up a vital 3-2 away victory against Italian side Torino on Thursday night – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter picked out midfielder Joao Moutinho for his impressive display.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side now hold a one-goal advantage in their Europa League play-off qualifier and are just one result away from entering the group stages of the competition.

Wolves host Torino next week at Molineux in the second leg and should be confident of progressing after scoring three away goals.

Moutinho’s wicked free-kick in the first-half was deflected in for an own goal and it gave the Premier League team the lead.

Attacking duo Diogo Jota and Raul Jimenez were on the scoresheet too in the second-half either side of Lorenzo de Silvestri’s strike for the hosts.

Torino did make it 3-2 at the death with an Andrea Belotti penalty after a Ruben Vinagre foul, but the English side can be pleased with their work in the first leg.

A selection of Wolves supporters on social media picked out Moutinho for his contribution, as he played 90 minutes and was a big presence in the centre of the park.

The 32-year-old central midfielder provided quality with his delivery, while he once again showed a tremendous work-rate to cover the pitch and get not he ball.

He’s developed into a talisman in Nuno’s team and his experience in Europe is already proving to be vital.
