Wolves fans hail ‘exceptional’ midfielder Romain Saiss after Liverpool defeat

Wolverhampton Wanderers were beaten 2-0 at home to Premier League leaders Liverpool on Friday night, but will be able to take positives when they reflect.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side came unstuck against an unbeaten Liverpool team that look the real deal in their title push, with Mohamed Salah and Virgil Van Dijk on the scoresheet.

Wolves remain seventh in the table after a defeat, but gave a great account of themselves and spurned several opportunities in front of goal.

A selection of fans singled out midfielder Romain Saiss for the quality of his individual performance and believe he was really impressive.

The 28-year-old has been in and out of the starting XI so far this campaign, but got the nod in the centre of the park against Liverpool to provide some extra steel.

Saiss put himself about with some crunching tackles and a faultless work-rate throughout, something which kept his team firmly in the contest.

The central midfielder did spurn a couple of opportunities in front of goal, but isn’t renowned for being a goalscorer.

He will now hope to force his way into the side on a permanent basis and the Morocco international proved he belongs at top-flight level.
