Leo Bonatini has returned to Wolverhampton Wanderers ahead of pre-season – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter don’t believe he can have a future in the next campaign at Molineux.
He spent the second half of the season out on loan with Nottingham Forest in the Championship, where he played just five first-team games and failed to score.
Bonatini came to Wolves back in 2017 and made his switch to the West Midlands club after firing in the first half of the the 2017/18 campaign in the Championship.
But his standards dropped as the team went on to clinch promotion and last campaign he slipped further down the pecking order under manager Nuno Espirito Santo.
The 25-year-old Brazilian was in red-hot form when he first came to England, but now looks someone that struggles to complete 90 minutes and isn’t up to the pace of the Premier League.
His loan spell at Forest certainly hasn’t helped him out and Wolves now have a star striker in the shape of Raul Jimenez.
A selection of Wolves fans on social media are struggling to picture Bonatini in the frame next season.
The squad needs strengthening due to the added European games, but whether the South American attacker will get a chance remains to be seen.
Here are some Wolves fans discussing Bonatini:
Have the people saying yes actually watched him play since blues away?

If anybody thinks this is a good option you need to see the bigger picture at this football club.

Who the hell is saying yes 😭

We’ve just reached the Europa league for the first time in a very long time, i do like Bonatini but he isn’t anywhere near good enough for the PL or UEFA cup, that’s the same mentality which saw us hold on to Dave Edwards for so long

Hopefully to say goodbye

Love bonatini, did wonders for us and played a massive part in getting us promoted. Not good enough anymore but don’t get the hate

Very sorry to say I have to agree with you. Had great hopes for him when we signed him. As you say he made a great start and was one of my favourites. Unfortunately after Christmas he just faded out of sight. Not good enough now 🧡🖤🧡🖤

basically the reality is Bonatini isn’t good enough and had a decent first couple of months, no one is disputing that at all. the problem is people still saying he can contribute it’s ridiculous really, he wasn’t good enough after january last year and he isn’t good enough now.
