West Ham United produced a stunning display to tear up the script and beat Wolves 4-0 at the London Stadium, largely thanks to an excellent Michail Antonio performance – and Wolves fans have discussed Pedro Neto’s efforts.
West Ham came into the match under enormous pressure. Fans have been disgruntled with the work in the transfer window and an interview with co-owner David Sullivan’s interview on TalkSPORT hardly improved matters.
However, the Hammers started brightly despite David Moyes barred from managing from the touchline. Looking sharp on the counter, Jarrod Bowen scored just his second Hammers goal after a quick Pablo Fornals free kick.
The Hammers did not rest on their laurels in the second 45, though. The impressive Antonio’s work saw Bowen double the lead with a tap-in from close range, before Tomas Soucek’s header made it three – via Raul Jimenez.
Substitute Sebastian Haller notched his fifth goal of the season with an excellent header late on – the result reading 4-0. Wolves were poor throughout, with £50,000-a-week (Spotrac) Neto showing any kind of attacking threat in a beleaguered Hammers side.
Wolves fans discussed Neto’s performance on Sunday evening and while many supporters were down about the result, some reserved praise for the winger – claiming he was “only player who’s looked hungry tonight.”
