Wolves fans criticise Morgan Gibbs-White for latest performance

Wolverhampton Wanderers returned to European football with a victory at home to Crusaders on Thursday night – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter were not pleased with the performance of teenager Morgan Gibbs-White.

Wolves recorded a 2-0 home win at Molineux against a Northern Irish side that were stubborn defensively.

Diogo Jota broke the deadlock in the first-half with a brilliant half-volley, while substitute Ruben Vinagre capitalised on a goalkeeping error late on to add a vital second.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side are now in control of the two-legged European tie and travel to Crusaders next week for the return leg.

The West Midlands club have entered the Europa League second round qualifiers and will be keen to progress to the group stages.

A selection of Wolves supporters on social media did pick out Gibbs-White for his display and feel he struggled to make an impact.

With Raul Jimenez making a late start back to pre-season, it’s given Gibbs-White an opportunity to show his quality and he started the first competitive game of the 2019/20 campaign.

The 19-year-old played in an advanced attacking role behind Jota and he found it difficult craving out opportunities against a well organised defence.

He’s a promising talent to come into the first-team from the academy, but surely needs to make more of an impact when he gets the chance and make better decisions on the ball in the final third.

The creator certainly has a lot of potential, but Nuno may have to be patient with him.
