Wolves and Aston Villa’s tangle over Abraham may impact protracted Hause deal

Chelsea will make a decision over Tammy Abraham’s future before 14 January, as per the terms of his loan agreement with Aston Villa, according to the Telegraph.

The young English striker is at the centre of a bizarre transfer wrangle between Wolves and Villa, with the Old Gold wanting Chelsea to recall him from Villa Park in order to buy him during this month’s transfer window.

An additional layer of complication is added by a lack of clarity over Abraham’s eligibility to play for Wolves; his involvement in both the Community Shield and Chelsea’s Under 23 side may rule him out of representing a third club in a season.

But Abraham is not the only player who links the two historic Midlands rivals in the transfer market. The Telegraph also report that they are at something of a stand-off over the future of young Wolves defender Kortney Hause.

Villa have reportedly offered £2m for Hause, but the deal is in danger of collapsing because Wolves value him at double that figure and the ongoing Abraham saga is unlikely to make either party more agreeable.

That applies to Villa especially, who will not want to be pushed around in the transfer market by a club who could well be responsible for them losing their talisman for nothing midway through a season in which they are desperate to return to the Premier League.

Dean Smith so desperately needs more bodies in at the back, because at present his backline is stretched to the point that it would be very difficult for them to even make the play-offs.
