Wolves should scrap reported interest in Yusuf Yazici and develop Morgan Gibbs-White instead

Wolverhampton Wanderers are firmly in the hunt to cap a wonderful first campaign back in the Premier League by securing a place in Europe next season.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s men romped to the Championship title last season and have looked the part in the top-flight.

They were surprisingly beaten by Burnley on Saturday but nonetheless, it has been a fantastic season for the club.

It would appear that speculation over summer signings has already begun.

Fanatik are reporting that Wolves are keen to land Trabzonspor midfielder Yusuf Yazici.

The report states that talks are set for the end of the season between the two clubs over a €20 million move.

Yazici would be one for the future as opposed to a player who would make an immediate impact.

His record in a mediocre Turkish Super Liga has been underwhelming this season. He has created just three assists in all competitions and scored one goal.

His arrival at Molineux seems somewhat pointless given that it will hamper the progress of academy graduate Morgan Gibbs-White.

Okay, so Gibbs-White is not the finished article, but it seems pointless to pay €20 million for a player that doesn’t really seem like much of an upgrade to the squad.

The 19-year-old is three years younger than Yazici. Investing time in developing his future would be wiser than pursuing the risky transfer of the Turkish midfielder.
