Wolverhampton Wanderers should join the race for Jack Grealish

With Aston Villa failing to win promotion to the Premier League, it appears several of their star players could leave this summer. The club need to balance the books after two years of spending under Tony Xia’s ownership. Perhaps their most valuable player is Jack Grealish and it appears likely he will be moving on in the summer.

The Mirror recently reported that the playmaker is among the players Villa could look to cash in on this summer. With a fee of £20 million mentioned, it is certainly a deal which will attract plenty of suitors.

So should Wolverhampton Wanderers be one of them?

Recruitment will likely be intensive from Wolves, who have a great link to super agent Jorge Mendes. It has seen the likes of Ruben Neves, Diego Jota and Willy Boly all arrive at the club but Wolves must not lose sight of more local talent as well.

Central midfield is one area where some more recruits are needed to help out the magnificent Neves. The Portuguese international dominates games and the idea of teaming him up with Grealish in the middle of the park is quite a frightening one. Wolves would have two brilliantly gifted technical operators in their midfield and could win many a midfield battle in the top-flight next season.

For Villa, it would be painful to see Grealish join a rival team. But if they need the money, Wolves certainly have it and it would represent a perfect chance for the 22-year-old to make his way into the top-flight, without moving far from his beloved hometown.

At £20 million, it is a deal that Wolves would be foolish not to make.
