Wolverhampton Wanderers fans react to Conor Coady’s display against Liverpool

Wolverhampton Wanderers performed admirably in their 2-1 defeat to Liverpool at Molineux on Thursday night as Roberto Firmino scored a late winner – but Wolves fans were hardly impressed with defender and captain Conor Coady.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side put in an excellent display throughout the 90 minutes and can consider themselves highly unlucky not to have got something from the match. Liverpool’s stunning run of form continues, though, as they remain unbeaten.

Jordan Henderson put in a captain’s display for Liverpool and the England midfielder opened the scoring inside the first 10 minutes, heading a Trent Alexander-Arnold corner past the grasp of Rui Patricio in the eighth minute.

But Wolves equalised early on in the second half, playing in Adama Traore who replied with an excellent first-time cross for the Mexican to head past Alisson – prompting cries of ‘Si Senor’ from the home crowd.

However, with 84 minutes on the clock, Henderson slipped in Firmino who left former Liverpool man Coady on the deck before lashing an effort past the hopeless Rui Patricio. Liverpool extended their lead at the top of the league to 16 points.

Wolves fans have reacted on Twitter to Coady’s performance, and many criticised their captain for his performance. One Wolves fans even described the defender as a “donkey”.
