Aston Villa have completed their second signing of the summer transfer window. Anwar El Ghazi has rejoined Aston Villa on a permanent deal, the club’s official website has announced.
El Ghazi spent last season on loan at Aston Villa from French club LOSC Lille. He played 37 games and scored six goals to aid Aston Villa’s promotion push.
His most telling contribution came in the play-off final at Wembley. El Ghazi stooped low to guide a glancing header into the bottom corner and give the Villans the lead.
The Dutch winger now returns to the West Midlands and pens a permanent deal. Aston Villa have signed El Ghazi for an undisclosed fee with the player agreeing on a four-year contract.
He becomes the second signing of the summer and the second winger through the door. Jota has already been brought in from local rivals Birmingham City.
Aston Villa fans took to Twitter to discuss the return of El Ghazi. After a slow start, the 24-year-old became a key figure under Dean Smith towards the end of the season.
Here are some tweets from Aston Villa supporters discussing El Ghazi’s arrival.
