Leeds United summer target Ryan Kent has been described by Tam McManus as “the best player in Scotland” right now, and praised Glasgow Rangers for not selling him amid interest from Elland Road.
Rangers boss Steven Gerrard admitted in August that Leeds had contacted them over the talented attacker, but said their opening bid was “strongly rejected” and sought to make it clear he is “not for sale”.
The Scottish Sun subsequently claimed that the Elland Road side was not ready to give up the fight for Kent, and were prepared to increase their offer to £14million.

At the end of August, however, Kent said he wanted to continue to give his all for Rangers as he looked to repay the faith that Gerrard had shown in him at Ibrox.
Leeds Live then reported in September that the player and his representatives told Victor Orta they weren’t interested in a move to Elland Road, and come October’s deadline, there were no further developments.
The Whites went on to sign Raphinha, while Kent has shone for the Light Blues, registering six goals and seven assists in all competitions en route to the top of the Scottish Premiership and Europa League Group G.
Speaking to PLZ Soccer after Kent netted in Sunday’s 4-0 win over Aberdeen, McManus said: “Ryan Kent was outstanding. His goal was brilliant.
“I think he is, without doubt, the best player in Scotland at the minute and a key player for Rangers.
“Look at not selling him in the window. That was great from Rangers’ point of view. That really sent a message out to the supporters – we mean business this season.”
TBR View:
It’s understandable that Rangers didn’t want to let Kent go, following a great start to such an important season, with a 55th title, plus stopping Celtic getting their hands on a 10th consecutive crown, at stake.
If the 24-year-old keeps up the great work at Ibrox and helps them win silverware over the coming months, speculation about his future and interest in his services is bound to increase manyfold.
Could Leeds return for Kent next summer? Given Raphinha is doing well right now, they might not need the Rangers man any more, but you never know what could happen in football.
