'Within the club': Newcastle staff are hoping Eddie Howe signs 'perfect' player in January - journalist
Newcastle United staff and PIF are keen to bring Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to the club as they look ahead to the January transfer window.
Journalist Dean Jones has told Give Me Sport that there is a real feeling within St James’ Park that the winger would be a really exciting coup.
Newcastle were linked with a swoop for a wide forward in the summer and again in the months leading up to the winter window.
The Napoli wideman is apparently on their radar as Eddie Howe gears up for another potential window of sensible, but ambitious spending.
Newcastle staff and PIF want Kvaratskhelia
Jones said of Kvaratskhelia : “There are certainly some people within the club that see him as a great fit for what they’re building.
“I’m sure they would love to have him, but this is one of the most coveted players in Europe.
“To be honest, I don’t think he’ll be leaving yet, so that’s going to be one issue.”
Speaking about the 21-year-old, before Napoli faced Liverpool last month, Hargreaves said: “The guy is breathtaking to watch, he’s only 21 years old, only cost 10 million euros, but plays on the left wing, (he’s) two-footed, he’s got goals and assists galore.
“Everyone that he plays against he pretty much terrorises, he’s quick, technically he’s good, he can use both feet, he’s a good finisher.
“It’s remarkable really that he’s playing at this level at this age, he looks like a regular Champions League player already.
“With his size, he can get on the end of crosses with headers, he’s almost like the perfect winger. He can do everything.”
