With Roma trying to sign Politano, could the door open for Everton to sign Under?

AS Roma are hoping complete the signing of Matteo Politano from Inter Milan, and a successful deal could mean Everton stand an improved chance of signing Cengiz Under.

The Toffees were recently linked with a move for the Turkey international, who has struggled for game time this season thanks in-part to injury.

The 22-year-old replaced the injured Nicolo Zaniolo against Juventus on Sunday but failed to make an impression in the 54 minutes he was on the pitch.

It was the performance of man who is not particularly high on confidence right now, and a showing that is unlikely to help him become a regular again.

The signing of winger Politano – who underwent a medical (@OfficialASRoma) – would not help matters for Under, and it would be unsurprising for reports to now surface suggesting Roma will allow the £34 million-rated player (Bleacher Report) to leave this month.

Perhaps Everton ought to keep a close eye on the situation over the next couple of weeks.

Arguably, there is need for the Toffees to add some more firepower this month.

Carlo Ancelotti undoubtedly needs defensive reinforcements, but he could also upgrade on Theo Walcott.

Under is a talent who is in need of a fresh start, and working with Ancelotti could see him realise his potential.
