With Liverpool players dropping like flies, Milner could become vital for the Reds

Liverpool are undeniably on a rocky road.

The Reds have started the 2020/21 season relatively well compared to the rest of the ‘Big Six’.

Jurgen Klopp’s team lie third in the table behind Leicester and Tottenham Hotspur, and have looked pretty solid so far, barring that stunning defeat to Aston Villa, of course.

But the club face a massive test now, with a string of first-team players out injured.

Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez are out for the foreseeable, and Trent Alexander-Arnold and Fabinho are also sidelined.

The international break has not been kind to Liverpool, with Andy Robertson and Jordan Henderson both picking up knocks.

Add in that Thiago is still in recovery from Richarlison’s challenge, and it’s safe to say things aren’t looking great.

The situation is pretty remarkable, but Klopp can probably count on one player to come in clutch for him over the next few weeks.

The 34-year-old is able to play in midfield and both full-back positions, and he probably has enough footballing intelligence to learn how to play centre-half.

It is common knowledge that £140,000-a-week star Milner (Spotrac) is one of the fittest players at the club, and with games set to come thick and fast, Klopp could regularly turn to a player who never lets him down.
