Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho appears to have big faith in Japhet Tanganga by awarding him a new deal, a move that could well push Juan Foyth ever closer to a move to Leeds United.
The Evening Standard claims that Tanganga is set to be the latest player in the Spurs squad to be given fresh terms. It comes just days after the likes of Oliver Skipp and Eric Dier penned new deals with the club.

However, the same cannot be said for Argentinian defender Foyth, who has fallen down the pecking order under Mourinho. Furthermore, he’s been out with a knee injury, meaning he’s had even less opportunity to impress his manager.
And with Argentine outlet, Ole, claiming Leeds are targeting Foyth – as well as four other Argentinian players – this summer, it could well be a further indication that Foyth is heading for an exit.
The 22-year-old has only started one game all season, although Mourinho did bring him back to the bench for the 3-0 win over Leicester.
Writing is on the wall, Foyth should seize the chance of working under Bielsa
There’s no massive shame in not making the grade under Jose Mourinho. The Portuguese legend is a serial winner and it can, at times, take a lot to impress him.
Tanganga has, seemingly, shown enough to suggest Mourinho is keen on building for the future with him involved. Foyth, on the other hand, seems to have been given the opposite treatment.

But this could be to Leeds’ and Foyth’s benefit in the long-run. The newly-promoted Whites will need a new central defender as they lose Ben White, while the 22-year-old might also find his place under a fellow countryman in Marcelo Bielsa.
So, while the future looks bright for Tanganga at Spurs, fellow defender Foyth looks to be on his way. Albeit, potentially, to the benefit of Leeds United.
